Nature’s Necessities

a ceremonial love where futures lie

testing themselves against the great dust of the sky

crimson dreams flit from eye to eye

in a desperate siege for resolution.

and the fog rolls in in its mint and blue

with a stone pricked lining bespoke for you

and a sweet bird sings in click, whistle, hum

the tune of a whale that waits for sleep to come.

cotton fern inky raw

puddles dripping over clotting floor

shadows of eastern winter moons

breath as worthy as your father’s doubloons

it shines in the sun

the gold that runs

where the animals go

stygian undertow

pretty flowers pretty flowers pretty flowers bloom

trees curve solemn mystery an unlit room

the hairs on your chest and the bones on your skin

seek back to the place where it all did begin

those rather timid flushes of a carrot twilight

grit in the earth and facile plight

highlighted memories tepid tomorrow

happiness joy anger and sorrow

polychromatic shapes words

all slot in their place

a bliss to be heard
