Honeysuckle Bride
I fell into the depths of my memory
and caught fish in my skirt.
Laughing, crying, they told
me of a place I used to love.
It’s far away, though.
Further from my body than my dreams
from my mind in
the waking rays of morning.
And yet, I still reach for it;
I was happy there,
where the flowers bloom.
You have forgotten me,
my sweet throne of wonder,
and left me for my mummified sorrow
to engulf me whole
like a pill.
I remember the way we danced together,
the heart to heart, shoulder to shoulder
founded by chance
and her shades of white.
Your silhouette began to haunt me,
you'd never leave my side,
but we fall apart, and break down:
my Honeysuckle Bride.
